Wow... good old Camp Lurecrest.. where to start? It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was going out of my comfort zone, which marks the beginning. Summer 2006 was my first summer at camp! I had heard about it from a good friend Brooke Morton. To be honest at the time I was living in sin. I had been a Christian for 4 years, but had not totally surrendered my life to Christ. I was still holding hands with sinners. I knew from experience that bad company corrupts good character, 1 Cor. 15:33. God knew what I needed and it was to get away from the world for a while and come to a beautiful and peaceful place in the mountains. God showed me how to truly live in HIS Freedom. Christ died FOR US and SET US FREE, so we are FREE indeed, Gal. 5:1. In the past I would sin and get so caught up in my sin trying to fix it alone, focusing so much on how to become better instead of keeping my eyes fixed on Christ and not my problems. I learned that I WAS NOT MY SIN. Christ did a work on the cross, screaming that IT WAS FINISHED! I was saved by grace through FAITH not by my works. Amen! The godly relationships I build at camp were such a blessing. It was getting my mind off my self and on God and others. It was putting the needs of others before myself and truly loving people the way Christ loves them. To walk in obedience out of a loving response for Christ. Life is a process, but camp guided me in the right direction towards Christ. I made that choice to deny myself daily and to choose to live not in my sin but for Jesus because God is my life. My true satisfaction is found in Him alone!!
